I love that it's an all day thing and that they wake up in anticipation. I am going to have to "borrow" some of those ideas, if you don't mind!

Something my parents always did which has trickled over to our family is what we called "knock and runs". We would take goodie plates, baskets of citrus from our trees, or home made bread stuffs to people in the neighborhood who were alone or poor or who could really use a lift. It was so much fun to try and leave it on the doorstep, knock, and run after the truck only to hop in and duck down so we wouldn't get caught!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5140632782930993596.post-60887629167966351662008-07-25T08:20:00.000-05:002008-07-25T08:20:00.000-05:00Happy Birthday Celeste! But Happ...Oh, I was laughing at the pool incident! But Happy Birthday!

Our traditions....I try to put the tree up on Thanksgiving (or sooner) and Matt tries to make me wait till the day after. But I usually win 'cause he isn't around very often.

We have a "happy party" to celebrate Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Anniversaries etc. We (try to) celebrate right before he deploys and then again when he returns we have another (BIG) happy party. Complete with Eggs and Flags hanging on a mini-Christmas tree and Christmas gifts (in Christmas paper) and Birthday gifts (in other paper), streamers and cake and pie.

I'd like to say we have more traditions, but that's it. Oh wait, Matt always gives the kids a blessing on the night before school starts (if he's home).Danahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15461821047590597378noreply@blogger.com
