A Sweet Serenade

Saturday afternoon was a perfect day for a picnic, so I took the kids to the park for lunch. While the kids were playing on the slides, I laid out a blanket and began to read. After a little while, Benny sat down on the blanket and asked, "Mommy, can I sing you something?" He proceeded to sing the primary song, "Mother I love you." It was the sweetest thing ever! I didn't even know he knew that song!! We've been playing the children's primary songs at bedtime, so that's probably how he learned it. I asked him to sing it again because I had to capture it on video. I have a feeling he'll make all the girls swoon someday with his sweet serenades. :)

Mother I Love You

Mother I love you, mother I do.

Father in Heaven has sent me to you.

When I am near you, I love to hear you

singing so softly that you love me too.

Mother I love you, mother I do.

I want to help you because I love you.

I want to mind you I want to find you,

happy and smiling because I love you.

Mother I love you, I love you, I do.

Oh, how sweet. I always liked that song when I was in primary. You are a great mom. You can tell your children really do love you.

Awww, so sweet! He looks a LOT like his daddy. Does Jon serenade you, too? It's wonderful to see your children with such lovely musical talent! :o)

how cute! I can just imagine how you felt when he came up to you at the park and sang that to you. What an unexpected wonderful surprise!

Thanks guys! You're such wonderful and supportive friends. :) With all the mistakes I make as a parent, this was definitely a reassuring moment that he loves me... flaws and all!

hey... do you know how to sew? If so, can you tell me how to thread a sewing machine? I forgot how to make new spools of thread in the cubby hole thing in the sewing machine. If you know how...Please, help me out!!

no worries... I called my mom and she helped me. But thanks for responding anyways!

p.s. i made my first Apron (christmas gift for my sister) and i've started on my Tree Skirt of Christmas. So far it's red... with brown reindeer head shapes. It's cute so far. but, i got tired of sewing and i'm going to take a break for the rest of the day.

Wow, he knows all the verses! I'm trying to get stuff like this out of my kids too. I guess I should keep trying. I'm always a little disheartened when they sing such lovely songs with vacant expressions on their faces though. Oh well. The best thing is when they sing spontaneously, like your friend Steph said your boy did for you at the park one day. You're so lucky to have caught this on camera! And that he was willing to perform :) It seems like my kids are at their most precious when the camera is nowhere to be found. Oh well, please forgive this long ramble from a stranger! I'm an old friend of Dana's who wandered over here :)

I told Neoma about this post and she said "Nicole's got a family of little performers!" I don't know what your husband's family is like, but Benny sure seems a Sasnett (or a Moore?) to me. Willow still runs away from the camera whenever I want her to perform. Aparently it's much more fun.
